Hi everyone,
When we first moved to this house this whole area was carpeted, It was fine in the living room area but the area coming from the garage into the hallway and dining room and kitchen looked pretty shabby. we decided to remove the carpet and since I had done a lot of faux finishes before I thought I could do an acid stain concrete look.
We had to remove the tiles from a small area by the front door, and that turned out to be the toughest hardest job! Removing the tiles was not too bad but whatever was used underneath was a big problem! We tried several things and finally got it done! I filled holes from the carpet tacks, the floor already had some kind of primer so I just finished priming the area where the tiles used to be.
I am kind of getting ahead of myself, removing the tiles was very messy so there was quite a bit of cleaning to do! Not trying to discourage anyone, it was all worth it!
I used three colors to paint, a dark brown, medium gray and light brown. I mixed all the paints with glaze, mixing the paint and glaze makes the application and blending a lot easier, it also dries slower giving you time to blend the colors for a more uniform look.
